Sasha Alexander Kaurov

Interdisciplinary researcher

I am an astrophysicist turned interdisciplinary researcher focused on science–society relations and the ways AI reshapes knowledge production, communication, and trust.Research: My current work with Professor Naomi Oreskes (History of Science, Harvard University) examines scientific integrity and public perception of science. Our recent research has focused on glyphosate, tracing how industry-linked science enters regulatory, academic, and public arenas (Undark, Science, NYT, WaPo). We write about it and other things in our recently launched newsletter Reckoning Science.Science communication: I am a co-founder of Earthlings Hub, a nonprofit initiative that develops and runs free STEM programs for children affected by war and displacement. I also founded OmniScope, a science-communication project that experimented with novel media to engage public audiences with science. Background: I received a PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics from the University of Chicago (2016) and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study. My academic work covered cosmology, the early universe, gravitational lensing, neutron stars, and large-scale structure. I am currently a PhD candidate at Victoria University of Wellington.
